Chronology. Students' Attorney. UKIM Statue.

In accordance with Article 340 of the Statute of Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, and for the purpose of protection of the University students’ rights, the Students’ Attorney has been established.

The competencies, election and activities of the Students’ Attorney are stipulated by an act of the University Senate, acting as the management body, i.e., by the Rulebook on the Election, Resolving, Competencies and Activities of the Students’ Attorney at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University – Skopje.

During the past period, the function Students’ Attorney was performed by Prof. BORCE DAVITKOVSKI PhD., Professor at the Iustinianus Primus Faculty of Law and PhD. ANA PAVLOVSKA DANEVA, Assistant Professor at the Iustinianus Primus Faculty of Law.

When adopting the new University Statute, and at the initiative of the Students’ Parliament at the University, it was decided that a legal studies student shall be elected as Students’ Attorney, with a minimum of 4 semesters attended and a CGPA of not less than 8,00.
The Students’ Attorney is elected by the University Senate, at the proposal of the Students’ Parliament, for the duration of 2 years, without the right of re-election.
The Students’ Parliament proposes a candidate for Students’ Attorney on the basis of an open competition.

After the open competition was held by the University Students’ Parliament and the proposal was delivered, the University Senate, on its 11th meeting held on 06.07.2009, reached the decision whereby they appointed NIKOLA GLAVINCE as the University Students’ Attorney, a student in legal studies at the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University - Iustinianus Primus Faculty of Law.

The Rulebook on the Election, Resolving, Competencies and Activities of the Students’ Attorney at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University – Skopje was adopted on that same meeting.

On 02.11.2009, by amending the Statute of the Students’ Parliament at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University – Skopje, the logo of the University Students’ Attorney was adopted as well.

On 30.11.2009, the Students’ Attorney gave solemn oath before the Senate and committed himself to carry out the function with responsibility, in compliance with the law and the University acts. 

After the solemn oath was given, the University Rector, Prof. Velimir Stojkovski PhD, handed to the Students’ Attorney a seal and register.

On 07.11.2009, the Students’ Attorney, on the basis of the previously conducted Open competition by the Students’ Parliaments of the Faculties - University members, reached decisions on the election of deputy attorneys. 

The Deputies and the Students’ Attorney have been elected so as to help in the realization of students’ rights, the implementation of procedures, as well as to act preventively for the observance of such rights.
